While walking is the oldest mode of human transportation encompassing social, economical, and environmental benefits, it has received little attention in Iran planning system. Even for the people using cars, walking for shorter trips is usual. This paper reports the findings of a walkability survey conducted in Hafez street (as a historical and cultural space in Shiraz city) belonged to the tomb of Ali Ibn Hamza that was constructed in the time of Safavid dynasty(1501 - 1736). The method applied in this study is in accordance with the context of the current state walkability literature. A list of potential Factors was collected through receiving seven main studies, then they were transformed to a questionnaire asking pedestrians about the quality of the case area for walking (n=200). They were asked to rank statements on 1 to 5 grades (Likert System) and also express their general idea on walkability of the area. Principal factors were found using Factor Analysis method (PCA). Then the relationships between explanatory variables and general satisfaction level (as the dependent variable) were investigated by Regression Analysis (OLS). Afterward, find ranking of factors was resulted by applying perceived quality assessment mentioned by sampled pedestrians as well as loading factors of variables, and the correlation existed between every factor and the dependent variable. Feeling Unsafe and problems associated with pedestrian crossing were found as the most significant issues that need further attention. Finally, a set of policy directions was recommended in hope of achieving higher walkability.
